Around Here – Late Nov 2016
Around here I’ve been quiet online because I’m happily buried in photos, observations, notes and research. This is my happy place and sometimes I just get lost there. There’s a piece I’m working on with details on the development of the new geyser over at West Thumb Geyser Basin.
Each and every time I dive into any part of it, I find myself full of wonder, awe and a curiosity to learn more. I mean, just look at that header image of the layers and layers of microbes. I can get lost in the smallest details in photos. You know, awe and wonder are good things for us – like slowing time, connecting, and even keeping us healthy.
Around here the Bighorn Sheep are in rut as are the deer. This morning we had about a dozen deer in the yard – two bucks and the rest does and yearlings. The boys considered fighting, but after sizing each other up, one decided maybe it wasn’t worth it.
Around here Bears are still being reported occasionally. Heard about a couple of hunters that were bluff charged twice while sitting in their pickup. They had seen something moving on the hillside and pulled off the road for a closer look. It was a bear that came down – after the first bluff charge, they commented to each other in the truck loud enough that the bear heard. That elicited the second bluff charge. Wondering if that bear had learned that pickup trucks sometimes hold game meat.
Around here most of the Christmas shopping is done. Love this! Then that means December is all about the stories you live.
Around here I’ve figured out my near-ideal sketch book. Just working with it a bit more. Am also auditing this course. And learning more about this.
Around here the days are growing shorter but the light is more dramatic – and that just evens it all out.
Around here I’m loving the basic rhythm of my winter days. I head to bed early, excited to get a good start to each and every day. There’s just nothing better than working hard on things you love during the day, sleeping well at night and deeply loving the life you lead. (Find your passion and let it lead you)
Have a happy Thanksgiving and thank you so much for visiting!
